Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 24, 2026
Short version: Recordizer does not collect, store, or sell any personal information and has no servers of its own.
Scan history, wishlist, and collection data are saved locally on your device only and never transmitted anywhere.
Lookups are routed through a Cloudflare caching layer before reaching Discogs and Spotify — no personal information is involved in any of these requests.
Buttons that open Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Discogs, eBay, and Amazon simply launch those apps or websites — no data passes through Recordizer.
1. Information We Collect
Recordizer does not collect any personal information. Specifically:
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any other identifying information.
- We do not create user accounts or require sign-in of any kind.
- We do not transmit your scan history, search queries, or collection data to any server.
- We do not use analytics, crash reporting, or usage tracking SDKs.
- We do not access your contacts, location, or any data outside the camera.
2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
Recordizer stores the following data locally on your device using Apple's standard
on-device storage (AsyncStorage). This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us:
- Scan history — a log of records you've looked up, including album name, artist, and cover art URL. Used to let you revisit results without re-scanning.
- Wishlist — records you've marked as wanted.
- Owned collection — records you've marked as owned.
This data exists solely on your device. Uninstalling the app removes it entirely.
You can also clear your history and collection from within the app at any time.
3. Camera Access
Recordizer requests access to your device camera solely for the purpose of scanning
barcodes on vinyl record sleeves. Camera frames are processed entirely on-device
and are never transmitted to any server.
4. Third-Party APIs
When you scan a barcode or perform a manual search, the app sends data to the
following third-party services to identify the record:
-
Cloudflare (privacy policy) —
Recordizer routes barcode and search requests through a Cloudflare Worker, a serverless
caching layer that reduces how often the app needs to call Discogs directly. The Worker
receives the barcode number or search query, checks its cache, and forwards to Discogs on a
cache miss. No personal information is stored. Cloudflare may log standard request
metadata (IP address, timestamp) per their standard infrastructure practices.
-
Discogs (privacy policy) —
receives the barcode number or a text search query (artist + album) to look up the release
and retrieve market pricing data. On a cache hit, Discogs is not contacted at all.
-
Spotify (privacy policy) —
receives a text search query (artist name + album title) to find a deep link to the album.
No Spotify account or login is required or requested.
No personal information is included in any of these requests. Barcodes and search queries
contain no user-identifying data.
5. Deep Links to External Apps
Recordizer includes buttons that open external apps or websites directly on your device.
Tapping these buttons does not send any data through Recordizer's code —
your device simply opens a URL that the respective app or website handles:
- Spotify — opens the Spotify app (or website) to the identified album.
- Apple Music — opens the Apple Music app (or website) to the album.
No Apple ID or Apple Music account is accessed by Recordizer.
- YouTube — opens the YouTube app or website with a pre-filled search for the artist and album.
- Discogs — opens the Discogs website to the specific release page.
- eBay — opens the eBay app or website with a pre-filled vinyl search.
- Amazon — opens the Amazon website with a pre-filled vinyl search.
Each of these services operates under its own privacy policy once you leave Recordizer.
6. Affiliate Links
Recordizer contains affiliate links to eBay and Amazon. When you tap "Buy on eBay" or
"Buy on Amazon," you are taken to those websites in your browser. We may earn a small
commission on purchases made through these links at no additional cost to you.
These links open external websites governed by their own privacy policies:
Recordizer is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate
advertising program designed to provide a means to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com.
7. Children's Privacy
Recordizer is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect
any information from children. The app contains no content inappropriate for any age.
8. Data Security
Because Recordizer does not collect or store any personal data, there is no personal data
at risk. All API communications use HTTPS.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by
updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app
after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
10. Contact
